The historic township of Kuranda is nestled in ancient tropical rainforest overlooking the mighty Barron River. Located in the mountains above Cairns, the Village is easily accessible by car, Skyrail Rainforest Cableway or the Kuranda Scenic Railway.
By car from Cairns, travel north to Smithfield then take the first exit left onto the Kennedy Highway at the roundabout. Proceed up the Kuranda Range. (Optional Scenic Lookout on right.) After crossing the Barron River, exit left at the traffic lights to arrive at Kuranda. Drive time approx. 40 mins.
From Mareeba, drive towards Cairns on the Kennedy Highway. Exit right at the traffic lights. Drive time approx. 25mins.
Parking is available throughout the Village. To take advantage of the free, all-day car park, continue down Rob Veivers Drive, turn right at the round-about (second exit) into Thoree Street. Car park is on right. The Post Office is also there making it convenient to send off gifts or post your purchases home.
